WJAI membership gives working digital journalists a verified identity: a press ID card, a membership certificate and a listing in the public Member Directory. Web portals (news websites) are registered separately and listed in the Portal Directory.
Who can apply
Individual member
- At least 5 years of working experience in any field of journalism.
- Educational qualification of at least Graduation.
- Not held guilty by any court of law, nor named in any criminal proceeding.
Web portal
- Running for at least one year, with the domain booked for at least 2 years.

The first-year fee includes the Web Journalists’ Welfare Fund contribution.
How it works
- Apply online with your details and documents (photo, signature, Aadhar / Voter ID, graduation and character certificates).
- Review – our team checks the application and you are told by email.
- Pay the fee from your dashboard once approved.
- Download your certificate and press ID card, and appear in the directory.
One login can hold your individual membership and as many portals as you own – no need for a separate email or mobile number for each.
